president of Facebook
Started
Napster while he was 15. It was a free file sharing service for music. It was
shut down due to oppositions from Recording Industry Association of America and
bands like Metallica. It served as a precursor to iTunes.
Plaxo was
launched in 2002 as an online address book social networking service that
integrated with Microsoft Outlook.
In 2004, he
joined Facebook as its founding president. He developed the clean user
interface and photo sharing in Facebook. In 2005 he was forced to resign
because of some police problems. Police while raiding his vacation home found
cocaine there.
In 2006 he
became the managing partner at The Founders Fund, which was focused on
investing in budding companies. It was a San Francisco based capital fund
founded by Peter Theil (PayPal founder).
In 2011,
Sean together with Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning founded Airtime.
Parker is
the founder of Causes, an organization that uses social media to connect with
charities and needy people.
In 2011 he
featured on the cover of Forbes 400 and appeared in Vanity Fair.
Justin
Timberlake played the role of Sean Parker in the Oscar winning film The Social
Network.
